On The Road Again

After a brief 20 hour stay at home I am on the road again. I arrived today at the Twin Cities in the great state of Minnesota and site of the 2008 Republican National Convention. I am joined by our AOTA President, Penny Moyers-Cleveland, and Tim Nanof AOTA Legislative Representative. Our calendar is full but tentative as the GOP is closely monitoring the situation surrounding Hurricane Gustav. Stay tuned to the blog and stay informed about how your Association and AOTPAC are representing you at the conventions. -- Amy

I thought I saw a posting on which political party, Democrat or Republican, was the most supportive. Health care issues are not about the party but about candidates. We need to talk to every candidate from ALL the poitical parties. After the voters choose thier representative then we will work with them. My thought is meet every candidate in every district, House and Senate, and share our Grip and Grin program. If all of us take care of our state and house districts we will have the exposure of health care issues. All OT's need to take part not just a few. So do your part. You may have politcal feelings that one party is better than the other. Go work for that party but we must keep all options open to achieve the goal of better health care for our country. We will need to work across the asile. Remember to do the same at the State and local level.

Dear CR in MN,

Thank you for your enthusiastic welcome! Glad we can support the Minnesota economy with our visit. Your comments are very insightful. I like how you suggest we each work within our own state to reach the candidates, a great way to help us as occupational therapy professionals and constituents to get the message out while establishing the relationships necessary to move our initiatives in Congress.

Anyone interested in helping to do some outreach in your state?

Amy,
I am more and more willing to learn how (to make connections and represent OT to the state).
